Every learner and provisional driver in Australia needs an L or P plate on the car. The ones from the post office do the job, but they fade in the sun, blow off on the freeway, and look like everyone else's. We figured we could do better.
Our new L & P plates are 3D printed with raised text, available in 25+ colour combinations, and come in four sizes - from a mini desk plate to a full 155 mm square that matches standard L/P dimensions. They're the same build quality as our custom number plates, just square.
Three Presets, Full Customisation
We've set up three one-click presets that match the standard Australian colours:
- L Plate - yellow background, black text
- Red P - red background, white text (P1 / first year)
- Green P - green background, white text (P2 / subsequent years)
Hit a preset and you're done in seconds. But if you want something different - say, a matte black L plate with white text, or a navy P plate with gold lettering - you've got 25+ base colours and 25+ text colours to mix and match. The colour combinations guide has plenty of inspiration.

The Mini makes a great desk plate or novelty gift for someone who's just got their licence. The Cozy Coupe is sized for ride-on cars - stick one on your kid's car and watch them lose their mind. The Full size is what you'd use as an actual L or P plate on a real car.
Weatherproof Option for On-Car Use
Our standard PLA plates are solid for indoor use and sheltered spots, but if you're putting an L or P plate on a car that lives outside, you'll want the PETG-HF material upgrade (+$3). It's UV and water resistant, so it handles sun, rain, and the general abuse of being stuck to a car that a learner is driving.
The Sheath: Swap Without Peeling
Here's the bit we're most chuffed about. You can add a Sheath ($5) - a holder that sticks to your car permanently. The plate slots into the sheath, so when you progress from Ls to green Ps to red Ps, you swap the plate instead of peeling tape off your paint.
Add Embedded Magnets to the plate ($5), the sheath ($5), or both, and the plate clicks into place magnetically. No clips, no fiddling, no damage to the car. Pull up, swap, drive off.
This is genuinely useful for families with multiple learners sharing a car, or for driving instructors who swap plates between vehicles constantly.
Who It's For
New learners. You're going to have that L plate on for a while. Might as well have one that doesn't look like it came from a vending machine. A custom colour scheme makes your car easy to spot in the car park too.
Parents of new drivers. A set of L plates with their name's initial makes a surprisingly good "congrats on your learner's permit" gift. Pair it with a first car celebration plate of the rego when they graduate to their Ps.
Driving instructors. You go through L plates like brake pads. The magnetic sheath system means you can swap between L and P in seconds, and the PETG-HF material won't fade after a week in the sun.
